In case you weren't able to make it to my exhibition earlier this year at Sinclair Community College, you'll soon have another chance to see it. I'll be showing a selection of quilts from my book, Quilt Local: Finding Inspiration in the Everyday at the Color of Energy Gallery in Dayton. Included in the show is my Dayton quilt, shown above, that was inspired by the architecture of a church in that city. All of the other quilts in the show were also inspired by Dayton and other locations in southwest Ohio.
Also included in the exhibition are some of the new experimental pieces that I've been working on lately, including the one above. These are improvisationally pieced quilt blocks that are stretched around wooden supports, much like the canvas of a painting. I'll have a number of these as well as some quilts for sale during the exhibition.
The opening of Quilt Local is May 6, 2016 from 5-9 at the Color of Energy Gallery, 16 Brown Street (in the Oregon District), Dayton, Ohio 45402. The exhibition will run through the summer.
